AI Referral Traffic in Freight Is Small, Growing, and Hard to See
LeadCoverage analyzed GA4 data from 28 freight and logistics companies, comparing Q1 2025 to Q1 2026. AI referrals are a small share of organic traffic today, they are climbing, and most teams cannot yet tell real buyers from bots.

What the data shows
The analysis covered 3PLs, freight brokers, freight tech, fleet management, freight finance, and supply chain consulting companies, and nearly one million organic website sessions.
Organic engaged sessions grew year over year at 43% of the companies. Search Console data from 11 clients showed average position improving for all 11 while clicks fell for 8 of them. Rankings are not translating into visits the way they used to.
AI referral traffic is still a small slice of organic volume, between 1 and 3%. Where it is measurable, it engages well: AI-referred engagement ran 60 to 75% across the clients with measurable data.
More than 70% of clients show direct-channel engagement rates below 40%, which LeadCoverage treats as the threshold for meaningful invalid traffic. Channel decisions are being made on data nobody has validated.
“Most freight and logistics companies are making channel investment decisions on data they have not validated.”
